2.0-2.80 Firmware PSP's Say - "Hello World" as New Exploit is Found!
Today hundreds of PSP's will say hello to the world as they run their first piece of homebrew - the "Hello World" application. This will be made possible by a new exploit found that does not require one to own a copy of Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories, but rather load a simple image off of your memory stick. This remarkable demonstration can be executed on 2.0, 2.01, 2.50, 2.60, 2.70, 2.71, and 2.80 firmwares!
If you are stumbling while reading this sentence, I wouldn’t be surprised. I just told you that you are now able to execute a homebrew application on 2.0-2.80 firmware. Now that you know it is possible, you are probably wondering how. With the combined effort of several dedicated users – NOPx86 (provided the original x86 proof of concept), psp250, skylark, joek2100, jimp, cswindle and Fanjita, they have managed to execute the first piece of homebrew on all firmwares above (and including) 2.0!
Less than a week ago, Fanjita dropped by our forums to tell us that a newly discovered exploit is indeed genuine and a usable exploit. This “exploit” started off as a discovery by NOPx86 in libtiff. He managed to find vulnerability and as a result – alter it to crash the PSP and many other image viewers. Fanjita, NOPx86 and the rest of this exploit team have put their hearts and souls into this exploit, and as a result they were able to execute a Hello World application on all PSP’s with the ability to view tiff files (2.0+). This application runs in "User Mode", but kernel mode will be achievable on all firmwares except 2.80.
HAHAHAAHAHH!!!!! EPIC WIN!

hand cammed preview of Jeff Minter's upcoming Xbox Live Arcade creation, Space Giraffe, shows that inspiration truly can come from within, with hooks lifted from Neon, Unity, and Tempest 3000, and with that necessary added splash of ungulate on top.

Microsoft Brings TGS and X06 to Live
After the sucess of their E3: Bringing It Home campaign (which offered downloads for users who couldn't attend the now-defunct trade show), Microsoft has decided to give this week's Tokyo Game Show and next week's X06 conference in Barcelona the same "bringing it home" treatment.
Beginning this Wednesday, Sept. 20 and concluding next Friday, Sept. 29, Microsoft will be making new playable game demos and videos and behind-the-scenes footage available from its upcoming lineup of titles. New footage is expected from Call of Duty 3, Dead or Alive Xtreme 2, Forza Motorsport 2, Kane & Lynch, Kingdom Under Fire: Circle of Doom, Need for Speed Carbon, Project Sylpheed, Shrek 3 and Viva Pinata.
Additionally the press release promises new video footage (remember, Microsoft didn't tell you before E3 that they were doing a Halo 3 teaser, so expect some surprises showing up on Live, too) and Microsoft promises "There will also be a brand new Xbox Live Arcade title launch each week, one at Tokyo Game Show and one at X06, including a never before announced major franchise making its way onto Xbox Live Arcade." Hmm, what could thhis new XBLA franchise be?
Plenty of titles that Microsoft knows are important aren't listed on the press release they sent out. Where's Mass Effect? What about Gears of War? And wasn't Crackdown supposed to ship this year? It's a safe bet that Microsoft has something planned for each of these games at either X06 or TGS, but will their plans involve bringing something to your Xbox 360? We hope so. What about Halo 3? Microsoft definitely has a a few surprises in store for X06.

No denial from Xbox Japan boss over Resi 5 exclusivity
Is Capcom's top franchise set for Xbox 360 exclusivity?
Edit: Hat sich erledigt.
Is Capcom's top franchise set for Xbox 360 exclusivity?
Wär schon ein dicker Fisch für MS...Speculation over the destination of Capcom's latest Resident Evil horror blockbuster has been reignited, with Xbox Japan boss Takashi Sensui refusing to deny fresh rumours that Microsoft has snatched exclusivity for the game.
The first next-gen instalment in Capcom's lucrative zombie franchise, which was announced for both PS3 and 360 last year, was conspicuous by its complete absence from this week's pivotal Tokyo Game Show, despite being pencilled in for a release by March 2007 according to the Japanese company's own fiscal reports.
Industry chatter at the Tokyo event claimed Resident Evil's no-show is owing to Microsoft tying up a shock exclusivity deal for 360, with an announcement due at the US firm's X06 event in Barcelona next week.
Speaking exclusively to GamesIndustry.biz at TGS 2006, Xbox boss Sensui refused to pour cold water on the rumour when questioned, stating that it had already been announced for Xbox 360 and adding, somewhat enigmatically: "All I can say is we are very good friends with Mr Inafune [the game's producer]".
Capcom, for its part, has not made any suggestion that Resident Evil 5's original status as a PS3 and Xbox 360 title has changed. But the former Sony stalwart has been forging increasingly close ties with Microsoft. Survival-horror romp Dead Rising, a 360-exclusive, recently released to great success in Europe, and a further hotly-tipped Xbox-only title, Lost Planet, is due in January. Capcom is also currently working on a separate Resident Evil title, Umbrella Chronicles, exclusively for Nintendo's Wii system.
Should the rumours prove to be of substance, the securing of 360 exclusivity for Resident Evil 5 would clearly be a massive coup for Microsoft. The series commands a huge global fanbase which would boost its console's appeal in all territories.
Industry watchers today said the onus was now on Capcom to clarify the status of the title in light of the current speculation. A spokesperson for the Japanese publisher was unavailable for comment.
Edit: Hat sich erledigt.
"Resident Evil 5 will release on PS3 and Xbox 360 as announced. There a no plans for an exclusive with the game", a spokesperson from the company told us.

SNK - Playstation 2 - remake action
Samurai Spirits - Rokuban Shoubu's actual content has been revealed and it seems that SNK Playmore isn't including all the MVS games there - instead of Samu-Supi Zero Special they're adding Tenkaichi Kenkakuden, the latest episode born on Sega's Atomiswave which got a PS2 port only a few months ago. Weird, but official.
Garou Densetsu Battle Archives 2 has also been exposed. As expected, Real Bout: Garou Densetsu, Real Bout: Garou Densetsu Special and Real Bout: Garou Densetsu 2 will fill the pack (so no Dominated Mind as a bonus, sadly), while The King of Fighters '98 Ultimate Match is confirmed as not getting a graphical update, but just an Arrange Mode with extra characters, moves and balance adjustments. To compensate, it'll be sold for only 3800 yen. Thanks to Fighters Front Line.

Xbox 360 CPU Upgrade in Q1 2007
von 90-nanometer auf 65-nanometer
The new Xbox 360 CPUs will benefit from lower power consumption, and thus much lower operating heat. The change will likely have a dramatic impact upon Xbox 360 reliability, as the console, especially the first batch of units manufactured before January 2006, has something of a reputation for being prone to hardware failure and the dreaded "Red Eye of Death."

Normalerweise wird ein Konsolengeräusch doch vom Soundsystem bzw. den Kopfhörern übertönt...
Oder steht die Konsole direkt neben deinem Ohr?
